The first Karma Chakme Rinpoche was born in 1603. He was regarded as one of
the most highly realized Buddhist masters in Tibet. He founded the Nhemdo Kagyu
Lineage and was revered throughout Tibet for his remarkable accomplishment with
over one hundred volumes of teachings, of which "The Wishing Prayer of
Dewachen","The Mountain Dharma", "The Union of Mahamudra and Atiyoga", and
"Buddhahood in the palm of the Hand" are regarded as the definite texts for
those who want to practice Tibetan Buddhism. According to great terton Mingyur
Dorje, Karma Chakme was an emanation of Chenrezik, non-differentiated from
Karmapa Himself.
The present 9th Chakme Rinpoche was born in 1975. His
grandfather was the great Terton Özer Dorje. At the age of twelve, he was
officially recognized by His Holiness Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche as the ninth
incarnation of Karma Chakme Rinpoche. He has studied in India and received
special empowerments of the Drikung Kagyu lineage from H.H. Chetsang Rinpoche.
He has also received many teachings and empowerments from His Eminence Garchen
Rinpoche and is regarded as "my dearest heart student "by H.E. Garchen
Rinpoche.
The present 9th Chakme Rinpoche has received the empowerments of the whole
teachings of Karma Chakme from H.H. Kazu Rinpoche , the golden lineage holder of
Nhemdo Kagyu.
The present 9th Chakme Rinpoche has also received the empowerments of the
whole teachings of his grandfather Terton Ozer Dorje from his father H.E.
Zhitong Rinpoche.
H.E. 9th Chakme Rinpoche has studied under many great Tibetan Buddhist
masters and spent a great deal of time in retreat. At the age of
twenty-one, he pursued his Dharma studies at Dzogchen Shri Singha University.
Thereafter, he attended a Tibetan University in Beijing where he also learned
Chinese language. Currently he is the administrator of the thousand year
old Moye Monastery in Tibet, and travels worldwide where he teaches regularly in
mainland China, HK, Taiwan, India, Singapore, Malaysia and the United States of
America.
